SwimBuddy Pro Hits Alicante: An Inspiring Collaboration with Rafa Aledo
The SwimBuddy Pro team recently had the privilege of visiting Alicante, Spain, where we met with one of the country’s leading swimming coaches, Rafa Aledo. Known for his deep expertise and commitment to the sport, Rafa has been a source of inspiration in our journey to develop SwimBuddy Pro. Our collaboration with him has been instrumental in refining our product, and we’re thrilled to share some highlights from our time together.
How Rafa Aledo Shaped SwimBuddy Pro’s Development
Rafa’s influence on SwimBuddy Pro began long before our recent meeting. His insights and coaching philosophies inspired us to build a tempo trainer that could seamlessly integrate with swimmers’ training routines, giving real-time feedback to improve pacing and technique. During our presentation in Alicante, we showcased both the prototype and our vision for SwimBuddy Pro, receiving enthusiastic feedback from Rafa, who was impressed by how far we’ve come.
Testing SwimBuddy Pro in Real Conditions
Our time in Alicante wasn’t just about presentations – it was an invaluable opportunity for hands-on testing in real-world settings. Over four days of intensive training sessions, we collaborated closely with Rafa and a group of dedicated swimmers to put SwimBuddy Pro to the test. This field testing provided essential insights and allowed us to identify approximately 25 key areas for improvement. We’re dedicated to addressing each of these points to ensure that SwimBuddy Pro meets the highest standards of functionality and durability.
What’s Next for SwimBuddy Pro?
Following our successful testing in Spain, we’re moving into the next stage of development. Here’s a look at what’s on the horizon:
• Design and Durability Enhancements: Based on feedback, we’re making adjustments to the device’s waterproofing, battery life, and signal clarity. These updates will enhance SwimBuddy Pro’s usability in various training environments, from the pool to open water.
• Additional Production: We’re planning to assemble 20-30 additional units, which will allow us to expand testing and gather further insights from a larger group of swimmers.
• Preparation for Next Open Water Camp: We’re eager to introduce the refined SwimBuddy Pro at our next Total Immersion Open Water camp in Poland. This will give us the chance to test our device with experienced open-water swimmers and gather even more feedback for future improvements.
Building a Community of Swimmers
Our meeting with Rafa Aledo wasn’t just about product testing; it was a reminder of why we started this journey. At SwimBuddy Pro, we’re committed to building a community of swimmers who are passionate about improving their skills and achieving new heights. Collaborating with expert coaches like Rafa helps us create a product that’s not only technically advanced but also truly meets the needs of swimmers around the world.

We’re excited to continue refining SwimBuddy Pro and bringing it to the broader swimming community. Stay tuned as we implement these changes, prepare for the next phase of production, and work toward making SwimBuddy Pro available to swimmers everywhere.
